Video Pokers - Online Gambling Rules

The poker hand is the key concept in the game. A poker hand is some specific order in the player's cards. (If you are already familiar with the rules you can skip the next chapter and read the instructions to the virtual play mode only).

Rules

As every gambling game, video poker starts with a bet: the player deposits a coin into the machine, after which it is dealt 5 cards. Keeping in mind all the possible winning hands, the player decides which of these cards to keep, and which to exchange.

The machine then exchanges the cards specified by player and checks his cards for winning hands. The player receives a specific amount of money for every type of winning hand. This sum or its half might be doubled (button Double). The machine deals 5cards face down, and then one of them is turned face up. The player needs to choose one of the cards that remain face down. To win here, the card chosen should be higher than the opened one. The lucky choice doubles player's win. If player chooses a card that is lower than a card that the machine turned over, he loses his original win. The player might take the risk no more than 5 times after every win which could not be higher than $2,000.

Variations. There are several variations of video poker. Mainly the difference between them is in the wild cards, which might stand in for cards of any denomination and suit to complete a winning hand.

  • In the most popular video poker, Jacks or Better, there is no any wild card - just a standard 52-cards deck.
  • It is simply to guess that in Deuces Wild only the lowest cards of all of the four suits are wild.
  • In Joker Poker a special 53rd card which gave a name to the game, stands in for cards.
The list of winning hand combinations and the amount payout are depended on the presence (or lack) of the wild cards in the deck.

** Payouts are calculated on the first payoff number for the 1 to 4 coins bets. 5 coins bet are calculated on the second payoff number.
*** When a hand with 1 to 1 payoff is obtained, you just get back the same amount that you have wagered.

Instructions

  1. Selecting the number of coins for the betFirst of all, use the arrow-shaped buttons in the lower right of the screen to select the coin size you want to bet.
  2. Then select the number of coins you wish to wager - from 1 to 5. The choice might be done by 2 ways: push one of the columns with numbers in the paytable; or use the Bet one or Bet max buttons. Each click on the Bet one button increases the bet by one coin. Pressing Bet max button increases the bet by five coins and deals the cards automatically.
  3. If you haven't made up your mind to make the maximum bet, push the Deal button, either Enter or Spacebar on the keyboard to start dealing the cards.
  4. Choose which cards you wish to keep by pressing the Hold button underneath the card, or by clicking on the card itself.
  5. Press Deal or Spacebar or Enter once more to replace the cards that you did not choose to hold.
  6. During the game you can double your winning (if it is not higher than $2,000). When you end up with a winning hand, you can venture and push the Double button. The slot machine draws you 5 cards face down, and then one card will turned face up. You need to select one of the cards that remain face down. To win, the card chosen should be higher than the opened one. The lucky choice doubles your win. If you choose a card that is lower than a card that the machine turned over, you lose your original win. Also, it is possible to play doubling only a half of the win, keeping safe its second part. To do this, click on the button Double Half on the playoff round’s screen.
